ORLANDO, Fla. (Dec. 21, 2022) – The Public Relations Society of America Orlando Regional Chapter (PRSA Orlando) awarded its 2022 Geri Evans, APR, Lifetime Achievement Award to Curley & Pynn Public Relations Management Co-Founder and Senior Counsel Roger Pynn, APR, CPRC, for his dedicated service and leadership to advance the public relations profession.

Pynn has been a PRSA member for four decades. As PRSA Orlando’s second president in 1983, he was among the great industry minds who led Orlando to establish its own PRSA presence. He has also served as a co-chair of the PRSA Sunshine District’s Ethics Judicial Panel.

Through his work on behalf of clients at Curley & Pynn and through his community service, Pynn has built an understanding in the Central Florida business community about the power and impact of public relations and its role as the conscience of an organization. The firm was Florida’s first agency to win a Silver Anvil Award, PRSA’s highest award of recognition, and has remained one of the prominent firms in the Orlando area for the past 38 years, providing public relations careers for many and impacting the community with its work. Curley & Pynn has supported the involvement of countless professionals by funding memberships and encouraging involvement in chapter leadership, set many on the path toward Accreditation in Public Relations, and sponsored numerous events and initiatives of PRSA Orlando.

“It is obviously very rewarding to receive an award with the words ‘lifetime achievement,’ but for PRSA to give me an award named after my longtime friend is truly humbling,” said Pynn, who will retire at the end of 2022 from a communications career of more than 50 years. “Geri has done so much in the field and for our profession. There are few who can hold a candle to her.”

PRSA Orlando established its Geri Evans, APR, Lifetime Achievement Award in 2021 to honor Geri Evans, APR, Fellow PRSA. Evans is an award-winning public relations professional, public speaker, writer, consultant and educator with more than 40 years’ experience. Her 16 years of service to PRSA include eight as a member of the PRSA Orlando board of directors and her chapter presidency in 2003. She has also served on the PRSA Sunshine District board of directors, participated on three national committees and held a three-year term on the PRSA national board of directors.

“[Pynn] has led the charge as a spokesperson in the business community and in our public relations field with tremendous passion and acumen. It’s an honor to recognize the ultimate professional – one who has truly led this profession and community to understanding what [public relations] is all about,” Evans shared while presenting Pynn with his award at PRSA Orlando’s Chapter Recognition Awards Gala, Dec. 5, 2022.
