Curley & Pynn Welcomes Former Public School Communicator and Acclaimed Journalist Matt Reed as Communications Strategist

MAITLAND, Fla. (Sept. 4, 2020) – Acclaimed journalist Matt Reed is the newest communications strategist at Curley & Pynn Public Relations Management – The Strategic Firm®, where he leverages experience managing media relations, social media and marketing communications to support the agency’s execution of strategic public relations for its clients.
Prior to joining Curley & Pynn, Reed was communications director and assistant superintendent for Brevard Public Schools, where he led a 12-member team that engaged, informed and mobilized more than 100,000 employees and parents at 83 schools. Under his leadership, the strategic communications team measurably improved Brevard Public Schools’ reputation, increased opportunities for community and government partnerships, and successfully navigated crises, such as hurricane evacuations and school safety threats.
Reed also offers 24 years’ experience as a journalist and editor, including 16 years reporting for Florida Today – a member of the USA Today network.
Reed is an active member of the Florida Public Relations Association’s Space Coast Chapter. He serves as a volunteer manager of COVID-19 emergency communications for the Brevard Homeless Coalition and as public relations director of Who We Play For, which advocates for and provides heart screenings for school and university athletes. Reed earned a bachelor’s degree in history from the University of Arizona and a master’s in journalism from the University of Colorado Boulder.
